War of the worlds, global ice melt down
image
The Story Continues:
The effects of the lose of protective atmosphere start to happen almost immediately. Much of the global warming symptoms become over night reality. Shocking amounts of contamination in the oceans cause a rise in water temperatures. The ozone layer is almost totally wiped away with one stroke, so unbelievable amounts of solar (UVB) radiation is unleashed over the ice packs, causing wide scale melting of the entire polar regions.

The Story continues:
As people start to die in ever larger numbers bodies are left where they fall. There is no-one focused enough to pick them up, anarchy rains, as a world wide state of shock consumes those in denial.
Could anyone survive such an aggressive biological attack?

War of the worlds, fighter jets attack.

The Story continues:
As the sickness destroys populations, cities fall and refugees are driven by feelings of pain and guilt as much as hope.
The hope that the larger capitals may have prevailed and a perceived sanctuary they may offer.
In an attempt to achieve this the few surviving military personnel attempt a last attack on the closes ship, only to be destroyed as flippantly as squashing an annoying insect.

Story:
As if the global problems that have been set in motion weren't enough to cause the extinction of every form of life on earth. Now the awesome power of the sun is used directly against us in a truly biblical plague of energy blots. Lightning like and just as unstoppable.

13 Step Kite Board Long Jump
image
During the 2009 KiteJam events this man performed an amazing array of skills. This is just an example of the level of talent we have in Perth.
I was actually preparing this for a competition and realised that I needed a model release before I could enter it. (not the easiest thing to ask someone for when there on the water and I can't wait for them to come ashore...)
Pelican Island flying sequence

You can see the flapping cycle of its flight here, it also has a glide stage after gaining altitude which is in the wing shape of the last frame/stage shown (top left). The sequence was taken just next to Penguin Island, Rockingham, Perth, Western Australia.

This was taken in Mahto, SD. I believe it to be long abandoned, but I could be wrong. Note the garage like structure on the right; perhaps a local still uses it for storage?
St. Bede Church in Wakpala, SD.jpg
image
This was taken on the afternoon of 12/24/2008. I had come to peform a baptism for two twin sisters of a Native man and woman, and then celebrate the 5 PM Christmas Eve Mass. Wakpala is very poor, and this church is one of the oldest parishes I serve.

This is the corner of our religious education building. This is a stop sign buried by the snow piled up clearing the street and our parking lot. I couldn't get a decent photograph from the other side. There is so much snow that there isn't hardly a place to put it anymore!!!

Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha
Feastday: July 14
Patron of the environment and ecology
b. 1656 d. April 17, 1680
Kateri was born near the town of Auriesville, New York, in the year 1656, the daughter of a Mohawk warrior. She was four years old when her mother died of smallpox. The disease also attacked Kateri and transfigured her face. She was adopted by her two aunts and an uncle. Kateri became converted as a teenager. She was baptized at the age of twenty and incurred the great hostility of her tribe. Although she had to suffer greatly for her Faith, she remained firm in it. Kateri went to the new Christian colony of Indians in Canada. Here she lived a life dedicated to prayer, penitential practices, and care for the sick and aged. Every morning, even in bitterest winter, she stood before the chapel door until it opened at four and remained there until after the last Mass. She was devoted to the Eucharist and to Jesus Crucified. She died on April 17, 1680 at the age of twenty-four. She is known as the
