Light Painter Peter H. Rosen with Cell Phone "Brush"
image
I saw the sun coming down thru the clouds and knew there was going to be a killer sunset on Maui. I pulled my car over and set up the camara on the roof and began a series of 40 shots to capture the setting sun and beautiful sunset cloud color in the resultant sky that I would later color balance and merge into a TIME LAPSE movie of THE SETTING SUN.
The flash only went so far in lighting my face. I had to balance the light in Photoshop to pull me out of the darkness and balance with the background. I fixed my masked edges with a 4 pixel brush set to soft light, picking the blue of the shirt and darkening it.
But I didn't touch the light of love above. You might notice that I had set the Alarm on my LG8100 cell phone which I often use as my light painting device. That is why the line from the phone. My hand was moving backwards when the shutter went off.
The shutter was not open as long as I'd thought so just a short "line" of light was captured as I moved my hand straight back as the shutter opened -- leaving a trail from the light that illuminates when the phone rings or the alarm goes off.

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright,
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire in thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder, and what art?
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand, and what dread feet?
What the hammer? What the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb, make thee?
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright,
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
