A Cold Winter Solstice

Probably the highlight of my UK trip, getting up long before sunrise, and driving to the stones. I arrived about 2 hours before the sunrise to ensure a carpark. It was free for all street parking, and I knew it was going to be crouded! I was only about a mile walk, and when I arrived at the gates, the atmosphere was amazing. 100's of druids playing drums and flutes. Getting louder and louder waiting for the heritage to open the gates.
Finaly the flood of people was released, and they slowely made their way to the centre of the stones. This walk will stay with me forever... The heavy fog, the light morning light making the fog glow blue, and the snow covered ground.. it was fantastic!

Salisbury Cathedral Interior Reflections

One of the many many shots I took of the interior of this beautiful cathedral. There is a still pool fountain in the centre of rear nave, and it makes for some beautiful reflections. I'm amazed at how many people miss looking into this for a very different view.
Salisbury Cathedral is the tallest surviving pre-1400 spire in the world.

Mysterious Stonehenge

There has been many theories to why these stones were erected. Only now with modern technology can we start to uncover some of the mysteries of this site. From ancient burial grounds, to calendars of the seasons.
This shot taken on the chilly afternoon of the 21st December 2009. The very next morning, I came back for the Winter Solstice.
