Jonah In the Doo-Dah Parade, 1.18.09
image
Every January, in the pacific streets
of Pasadena, California-
a wonderfully wild, colorful
parade ensues - a parade
for everyone and everything
that would be too weird or
conceptual or funny for
a conventional parade - and it's
color and electricity and
whimsy merged with the
sense of Carnaval or
Mardi Gras -
and we have been spectators
in this, the
Doo-Dah Parade, for the
past few years. Last year we
said - Jonah and I - that
somehow we had to get into this
parade.
Well, turns out the Doo-Dah has
open arms, and we were
warmly welcomed into the
fold -
and we came as clowns -
father, mother & son -
and Jonah was the
best beamish clown of all-
and though we were ready
to walk along with the procession-
we joined Mac's amazing
clown junkyard oldtimey
ragtimey truck cavalcade -
and we rode through the
parade route with it - though
occasionally we leapt out to
walk and entertain and hurl
beads and tortillas and
candy at the crowd -
and here's Jonah
with the great truck

View from Kitchen Window #1
Devils Kitchen - Noosa Heads
image
Devils Kitchen in the beautiful Noosa National Park in Queensland. This is a 3 photo stitch, providing about 140 degrees of view. The eagle is a Brahminy Kite, searching for his evening meal. While waiting for these shots and birds, I also watched a very large manta ray jumping from the water, was someway out, and the camera didn't pick it up. In the right season, you can sit here and watch the whales play while migrating.

Mesa Arch Sunrise

Explored October 3, 2009 - #289
Hello to all my flickr friends & contacts....we just returned from the Southwest today, and as you can imagine, I will be spending weeks sorting through pics. I wanted to get at least one posted and decided on one of my favorite spots from our two week trek - Mesa Arch, Canyonlands National Park. We visited this spot twice; once in the late afternoon when we first arrived in the park, and I instantly fell in love with the view. Decided we just had to return early the next morning for sunrise, which was even more amazing than the first visit.....although shooting at this location was quite difficult with at least 15-20 other photographers already there.
Hope to catch up with everyone over the next few days :-)
