But for luck image and the grace of God this could this be anyone of us. Thought I would do a change from my colorful sunrise shots to post this shot today, This is one thing that I never expected to see in NYC to be honest, people living and sleeping on the streets, I have seen it in many other countries I have been to but just didnt expect it here, This lady I have taken a shot of before and hadnt seen her over the winter months, but last week she was back in her normal spot. I was wondering after seeing her and capturing this where she had been, and have heard from others on another photoblog site I have that "A lot of states (including new york) have a "code blue" system in place for where it gets below a certain temperature. New york I think also has "safe haven" emergency shelters specifically for winter months and winter street walker teams to check on the homeless." and another comment was 'Alas...for many of these people it is so much more complex than just the economy that keeps them living on the streets. Many suffer from severe mental illness and or addiction and the very laws that protect them from being forced into treatment against their will also keep them from getting the help they need and becoming productive, involved members of family and society. They lack the insight and judgment to seek real help which is available, and often reject it when it is offered. This I know for a fact. I've dealt with it within my family. So sad' which made me think even more and want to try and do more this year not only documenting it with more shots of the homeless, but to try and get out of my shy shell and try to talk to some of the homeless and learn about about their story and find ways to help if I can Dont feel you have to comment or anything on this if its hard or touches a sensitive spot its just a shot I felt I had to post better on B l a c k M a g i c

Better on B l a c k M a g i c Looking in, Through and looking out the Window image Todays challenge for PHotochallenge.org was "Out the window" I took a few shots out of office windows at work Looking across the East river and some were OK, but I wanted to go for something a bit different so at lunchtime went for a walk to try and get a shot looking through a car window and out the other side which I thought would be cool. Well I got this shot that was OK but needed something so got a little carried away with processing and here is the end result Better on B l a c k M a g i c Grain image Todays challenge on www.photochallenge.org/ was Grain So popped ouy at lunch time and walked a bit and got quite a few shots of the grain on wood soe of which were OK, then as I returned to the office I nocied this in a planter thing outside my office, which to me looks like some sort of Grain, took tons of shots of it but not many turned out as it was windy and gusty at time,s and it seemed the at times was about every time I ws about to click the shoot button, went down three times with the camera when I thought the wind was calming down but seems I was wrong each time LOL So hear is todays shot, a bit late working on it tonight so quick processing and perhaps over the top, not sure I like it but to tired to go back and do it again Not sure if I will have time to catch up with all your streas tonight but will cathc up soon Better on B l a c k M a g i c Amber Leaf image Todays challenge on www.photochallenge.org/ was "Amber" Popped out to the backyard briefly and found this leaf which to me has at least a hint of Amber, (bear in mind I am a mere Male and we classify colors to about 7 total, we dont come to terms with all the subtle colors like Turquoise, Burungdy, Amber etc etc) Stomach is feeling a little better now, but still feeling drained so taking it easy for the rest of the day Better on B l a c k M a g i c

You smiling at me image Spotted this the other day when going out for a lunchtime walk, starting to see more sesonal decorations appearing, her eis one shot I got Nice day in the Park - Window Display image Better on B l a c k M a g i c Todays challenge on www.photochallenge.org/ was "window display" Working in Manhattan gave so many options of course for window displays, took quite a few shots but going for this one as I think the reflections of Bryant Park, the buildings and clouds are kind of cool, but then again I an crazy for reflections. This is taken on 42nd Street near 5th Ave of a window display in the H&M store Fallen and resting image Took this a few days back while looking at options for the Amber challenge, just saw it pop up as a screen saver as I was having breakfast just now so decided to post it today, Flickr seems to be having issues again this morning took ages to get on to it, finally did now, so my early morning comment period was wasted away, so will be back on leater to visit your streams Hope everyones weekend is going well The way image Better on B l a c k M a g i c Another shot I took while in the little park yesterday I would say two or three times a week I head to this spot and walk across this walkway, over the FDR and look over the east river and unwind and forget about work for a few minutes Hope everyones week is going well New York Chris Robertshaw image
