Back to the May trip.....outside of the luck we had during our February trip, this is the only other time that we were able to see and photograph so many bighorn sheep. There was a large group that grazed not far from the Yellowstone picnic area the entire two weeks we were there as well as another large group in the Gardiner canyon. Makes you wonder if they get headaches, carrying around those heavy curls :-)

Funny story....we had pulled into Wrecker's pull-out on this particular day with temps @
-24 degrees fahrenheit and spent approximately 20 minutes watching a pack of wolves through the spotting scope that were at least 1-2 miles away. After deciding that we had seen enough and needed to warm up, we got in our rented SUV to leave, and I caught some movement out of the corner of my eye. Much to our surprise, there were two bighorn sheep grazing not even 25 feet from us, and they had apparently been there the whole time. In seven years, we had never been so close to these majestic creatures, so I jumped out of the SUV and started taking pictures. Neither ram seemed to be bothered by our presence, although they would occasionally look up to make sure we were not getting too close.
