As the sun sets the building shines As the sun sets the building shines image I have posted a couple of shots of this bulding before but generally closer in, got this one the other day before the sun set and from a different perspective Hope noone fell off there chair in shock that I took a shot at a time other than early morning as most of my shots are ;) Silhouette of the city Silhouette of the city image A shot from earlier this week from exchange place again, the the sun rising earlier its well past the best stage by the time I get there, but will have another short window to try again when Daylight savings starts Better on B l a c k M a g i c Under Bethesda terrace Under Bethesda terrace image Did a quick visit to Central park yesterday, this is a shot under bethesda terrace may be better or worse on B l a c k M a g i c But for luck But for luck image and the grace of God this could this be anyone of us. Thought I would do a change from my colorful sunrise shots to post this shot today, This is one thing that I never expected to see in NYC to be honest, people living and sleeping on the streets, I have seen it in many other countries I have been to but just didnt expect it here, This lady I have taken a shot of before and hadnt seen her over the winter months, but last week she was back in her normal spot. I was wondering after seeing her and capturing this where she had been, and have heard from others on another photoblog site I have that "A lot of states (including new york) have a "code blue" system in place for where it gets below a certain temperature. New york I think also has "safe haven" emergency shelters specifically for winter months and winter street walker teams to check on the homeless." and another comment was 'Alas...for many of these people it is so much more complex than just the economy that keeps them living on the streets. Many suffer from severe mental illness and or addiction and the very laws that protect them from being forced into treatment against their will also keep them from getting the help they need and becoming productive, involved members of family and society. They lack the insight and judgment to seek real help which is available, and often reject it when it is offered. This I know for a fact. I've dealt with it within my family. So sad' which made me think even more and want to try and do more this year not only documenting it with more shots of the homeless, but to try and get out of my shy shell and try to talk to some of the homeless and learn about about their story and find ways to help if I can Dont feel you have to comment or anything on this if its hard or touches a sensitive spot its just a shot I felt I had to post better on B l a c k M a g i c Harlem Meer Harlem Meer image Well after seeing and hearing how beautiful Harlem Meer is I finally made a vist there a little while back and finally got to look at some of the shots I took while there and here is one of them better on B l a c k M a g i c
