Thermal Baths at Bath

These baths built in the first century AD come from a natural geothermal spring, and being thermal, are naturally heated to a toasty 46 degrees celcius. The temp at the time of this shot was 0, so there was plenty of steam rising from its surface.. You can also see Bath Abbey lit up in the late evening in the background of the shot.
The spring itself first thought used by early man, with finds of ancient knives of flint stone found in the area.
In the first century, Romans used this as a pleasure resort, and built a complex of hot rooms, and a temple to the Goddess Sulis Minerva.
I highly recommend a visit to this city if you travel to the UK, with other ancient wonders near, it's a jam packed few days :)
