Unity of the body

An overtly Christian theme I admit, and one with obvious religious symbolism. This piece actually came about from a larger "paint wall" at an event I attended, where peoples random painting formed the shapes here, I then transcribed the piece to digital. Still not sure why I actually like this, I guess it must be the memory of that evening.

Not quite sure of this pieces meaning, but I really like it. Feels lonely and yet heart-warming... but maybe thats just me
The War Rages On

An older piece of abstract imagery created on the PC, trying to visualise the spiritual war between good and evil, light and dark.
Not my tidiest work but, for me at least, it has a certain energy about it even after a few years.
The Darkest Night

Sometime at times of great darkness it can seem as if something is there, lurking, feeding off our despair and anguish.
The Brightest Day

A sort of companion piece to "The Darkest Night". It is some what brighter than most of my other abstract pieces. The idea behind this piece was to show a person caught up in worship and peace, the warm tone reflecting deep within and without.
Shaolin Monk

A abstract, almost cartoony, representation of the skilled shaolin monks. I allowed the monk to flow and merge with the ground to show strength and endurance
Rescued from the Mire

Not exactly a subtle or refined piece, but I wanted to keep an edge and roughness to it as the image represents being rescued from a place of death, despair, and destruction
Remorseful Zombie

created for the Horror Photo-manip challenge. What is there to say except its a zombie (yes not exactly original) and it kinda looks like it/she is crying.
Kiss

This work was inspired by an image I saw during a documentary I was watching, I used a screen grab of the "image":http://twitpic.com/bghck as a template. Which leads me to a difficulty I do not consider this to have been traced but rather I used the image as a mean to fill in blocks of colour and then through a series of painted layers and trying various things constantly referring back this is the image that resulted, changed not only in orientation from the original source but also the exclusion of some detail. I leave the decision to yourselves as to wither or not this counts as traced.
At any rate I do not believe any of that really distracts from the work and its emotion.

OK, its not exactly a like for like image but hopefully it at least looks kinda like a kiwi :)

A re imagining of an older work, I present my second Ice Mage photomanip, and one that I think is much better than the older version. Really looks like a mistress of the cold magical arts :)
Took about two and a half hours give or take 10 min. The original source image was purchased from iStockPhoto
Homeless Jesus

Created using an acrylic ink work I made a few months back as its initial sketch, this piece represent Jesus as a homeless man. For what we do "to the least" of us, we do unto Jesus, if we walk on by hard hearted uncaring for those in need (be they homeless, addicts, or the poor) then we are deny the word, and sacrifice, of Christ and His example.
First Love

Rather liked this one, hopefully gets across the feeling of holding on too tight to the memory of our "first love"
Fire Mage

I decided to try and create another image in a similar vein to "Black Eyed Angel".
When I came across this stock photo (again from iStockPhoto), the idea just suddenly came to me and it kinda just flowed from there. Originally I was going to remove the flowers but then I thought it would probably look better if they were on fire (and also became brighter and more alive) as she touched them.
Don't let love grow cold

This piece is meant as a warning to us all not to let anything harden or cool our hearts to the needs of those around us.
Comfort

Sometimes we just need to be held, to feel as if someone, or something, is there with us. Words are not needed just a presence.

Bound in Despair

I tried to convey the idea of despair and hurt, I used an angel as the central figure to emphasise this as they are usually seen as serene and peaceful beings.
Black Eyed Angel

Late one night as I just started to get to sleep Radiohead's "Pyramid Song" came on and suddenly an idea came to me about the "Black eyed angel" mentioned in the song, I quickly sketched the idea down and the next day I used a piece of stock photography I had (from iStockPhoto) to create this work.
I'm rather pleased with the end result, I think it has a nice mix of melancholy, sadness, otherworldliness, and for some reason security...
