A whole night to photograph a rite of Candomblé in a -terreiro- of Salvador de Bahia is a very intense experience. The assignment of the men is to tune up complexes and repetitive African rhythms with strong and evocative power. The women dress embroider wheel skirts, they dance, they stir the bodies, they scrutinize the presents and they follow the initiates completing slow movements and singing in yoruba language.They dominates the house. They dance and they go in trance, the principal purpose of the ceremony. The dance, deeply African, is performed with great transport, with elegant movements of the hands, swinging the haunchs and completing light footsteps. When a dancer enters in trance, she trembles and twists while the assistants embrace and sustain her.
The rite that I have photographed was in honor of Omolù, the feared one and respected Orixà of the illnesses and torments; his syncretic and christian counterpart is S. Rocco. The followers of the Candomblé, named -candomblisti-, are Catholic believers. The Brazilian Church cohabits and accepts the existing syncretism between the rites of African origin and the most known Catholic practices.

The photos of this calendar belongs to a collection “Indian Painting” and show some of the immages shooted during my exploration of indian continent.
The collection has been elaborate with a process of post-production that tries to approach the photo to the painting. The result shows images where the line of the brush replaces it with the normal photographic definition, making brightest the colors and giving to the images a halo of antiquity that exalts the traditional aspect sought in the choice of the locations of the introduced images.

This photo has been realized in Rajastan in the sacred city of Pushkar. It is a city destination of continuous pilgrimages. A man and a woman go on the banks of the sacred lake to enact their union. The long walk undertaken for reaching Pushkar represents the value of their union.

This photo has been realized in Rajastan in the city Jodhpur. It is a symbolic photo that speaks to us through what represents. A pair of used shoes, abandoned on the pavement of a walk too times crossed, symbolize the idea of the change. We leave us to the shoulders the walk undertaken in the past to cross new roads.
