Baltimore Power Plant Building 10-28-2009
image
Formerly the Power Plant Building and now home to Barnes and Nobel, Hard Rock Cafe and other businesses at the Inner Harbor area of Baltimtore, MD.
I liked the aspect and view of the row of buildings as seen from the Baltimore World Trade Center.
It was a gloomy day with light rain falling but I went out and about for a bit in the morning as it would be my only opportunity to take a few photographs. I got soaked.

Stanford Memorial Church (Sepia)
image
Stanford Memorial Church in Sepia. I really like the mural and you can see more detail in the large or original size.
From the Stanford University Office office of Religious Life:
Stanford Memorial Church stands at the center of the campus, and is the University's architectural crown jewel. It was one of the earliest, and is still among the most prominent, interdenominational churches in the West. Jane Stanford built the church as a memorial to her husband, Leland. Together, Senator and Mrs. Stanford had constructed the University as a memorial to their son, Leland, Jr.
The Stanfords, who were religious, but not committed to any denomination, decreed that the church was also to be non-denominational. Adopting such a philosophy, they felt, would permit the church to serve the broadest spiritual needs of the university community. The Stanfords also saw spiritual and moral values as essential to a young person's education and future citizenship.
The first chaplain of Memorial Church,The Rev. Charles Gardner, said on its dedication day in 1903: "We begin anew today. no less an experiment than this: to test whether a non-sectarian church can minister to the spiritual needs of a great university. it has been built in love; not to teach a theological system, not to develop a sectarian principle, but to minister to the higher life."
The church construction was completed in 1903. Today, regular multi-faith services are held in the church, in addition to denominational and nondenominational Christian services."
I thought this was very interesting information.
Update 1-1-2010: This photo is published in the San Francisco & Bay Area 2010 City Guide (Page 86, top, right side) magazine placed in hotel guest rooms in the San Francisco and the Bay Area. I was honored to see it in print.
Sedona Arizona Area 6-2009 04
image
Sedona, Arizona area.
I grew up and lived here until I was 38 years old.
It is very beautiful here. But in the last 30 years it has now become a major tourist destination and has lost a lot of its "charm" and beauty due to development. It is hard to take a photo without some kind of man made structure in it.
I had to make a quick emergency visit to see an ill family member but I did get a chance to take a few photos of my hometown.

New Orleans French Quarter architecture and scenes.
I visited New Orleans for work and I only had a morning to take some photos so mostly I focused more on nearby architecture rather than Bourbon Street.

I was travelling for work this week in the LA area. We passed Huntington Beach, California and I made my work mates stop so I could get a few photos. I was the only person on the pier wearing a tie. It was a very quick 20 minutes. But it was something different.
Cymbidium Orchid - Cropped Version 1-1-2010
image
You can see more detail in the large size...
Cymbidium (pronounced /sɪmˈbɪdiəm/) or boat orchid, is a genus of 52 evergreen species in the orchid family Orchidaceae. It was first described by Olof Swartz in 1799. The name is derived from the Greek word kumbos, meaning 'hole, cavity'. It refers to the form of the base of the lip. The genus is abbreviated Cym in horticultural trade.
Whatever :) I like this flower.
My first photo of 2010 I hope that you like it.

Tommy's Joynt is the original hof-brau of San

Downtown Billings MT 1-15-2009
image
Old building taken on a cold winter night in downtown Billings, Montana.
Like most downtowns, Billings is becoming "forgotten" in favor of big box stores that are away from the downtown area. I like visiting downtown in the daytime and at night. It has character and I like it.
Montana Winter 12-27-2008 (10)

Some winter scenes taken near where I live in Billings, Montana. It has been unsually cold and more snow than usual as well. But I think it makes for some beautiful "Big Sky Country!"

Sunset In Flight 1-30-2009
image
Sunset from a Delta Air Lines flight over the Rocky Mountains on my trip home after working the week in Southern California.
The views were very nice this evening but the scratches on the windows made photography difficult :( I took over 60 shots just to get this one photo that I liked.
