Glow

#2 of 5: A slightly different view of the Bryce amphitheater at sunrise. Just loved the glow of light on the inside of this hoodoo.

Jackson Lake

Another variation of a previous post but taken from a slightly different angle. Early morning sun shines on the banks of Jackson Lake, and the calmness of the water accentuated the reflections.
Square Tower House

Still reworking some oldies but goodies from our trip out west last summer. This one was taken at Mesa Verde National Park in Southwestern Colorado.
Mesa Verde is best known for a large number of well preserved cliff dwellings, houses built in shallow caves and under rock overhangs along the canyon walls. The structures contained within these alcoves were mostly blocks of hard sandstone, held together and plastered with adobe mortar. Specific constructions had many similarities, but were generally unique in form due to the individual topography of different alcoves along the canyon walls.
Casting Shadows #2
image
Winter in the Lamar Valley.....photographed this tree during our February trip out west. As we rounded a corner in the valley, I was struck by the beauty of this lone tree, casting its shadow in the afternoon sunlight.....simplicity at its best!!!! Posted a similar shot previously, but this one is taken from a slightly different angle.

Chill in the Air
image
View On Black
My first thought upon waking this morning was, "I can't believe it snowed; it's May." As we began our journey into the park, I was struck with how magical everything looked as a result of having just a dusting of snow. As we crossed a small bridge, the sheer beauty of this creek caught my attention, and I had to stop and try to capture its essence. As you can well imagine, there was a slight chill in the air.
Autumn in the Tetons

Rework of an oldie but goodie.....September 2007
One of my favorite places to stop in the Tetons. Initially, I was very disappointed with the fact that Mt. Moran was barely visible but realized that the low hanging clouds combined with the autumn colors only served to accentuate the landscape.
